Compact IGBT phase-leg assemblies, as integrated functional modules for advanced high-speed trains, multivoltage locos and commuters

Two Ansaldobreda integrated power electronic modules are presented, which perform complete phase-leg function, including cooling, driving, sensing and diagnostics; they constitute basic elements of multivoltage converters for heavy railway traction. They are suitable respectively for: 1) multivoltage locos and high-speed EMU trains; 2) EMU and double-deck commuters. Such way European directives on interoperability are accomplished and reduction of life-cycle cost is obtained.
