Inhalt:
Today, both applications and market for planar transformers are steadily expanding. Among the main advantages of planar transformers are simple manufacturing, high power densities, the good thermal and mechanical behaviour and low EMI emissions. However, electromagnetic phenomena occurring at high frequencies induce stray effects, such as parasitic capacitances and inductances that can hardly be analytically modelled. The paper presents an overview of the literature on the subject, and shows modelling of skin effect and leakage inductances based on Finite Element Analysis. An experimental application involving modal analysis is finally presented.
