As the population of cardiac patients increases, vital sign monitoring is very important for securing their independent lives. This is a new non-invasive, pneumatic home health care system. It is a real-time long term continuous, patient monitoring system, which enables medical doctors to watch their patients on a remote site, to monitor their vital signs and to give them some advice for first-aid treatments. Here a high sensitive pressure sensor and an air-mattress system are used for the remote detection of respiration and snoring from a human body. An algorithm is also used to separate ballistocardiac signal, respiration signal from pneumatic pressure signal, and these are compared with standard electrocardiography (ECG) and respiration signal. The simulations are done using LT-Spice and Matlab.
