A lot of trouble cases caused by the electric transient phenomena in the industrial electric power system such as factories (steel, petro chemistry and paper pulp) which have customer's power generating plants have been reported. In the power plant in a power system, it is important to continue monitoring the plant condition and stop the plant carefully in the case of all power lost due to the accident of the internal power plant or the power system. An emergency generator (diesel generator) is installed for these measures. The generator is used to supply electric power to induction motor (IM) loads for emergency use. In this paper, we focus and simulate the effects of SMES (Superconducting Magnetic Energy Storage) which can compensate active and reactive power with high speed to avoid the bus voltage sag with sequential starting of IM loads.
