Overvoltages arising from energising a 45km 132kV submarine cable connection to an offshore wind farm were calculated using EMTP. Energisation of the submarine cable and remote 132/33kV transformer connected as a transformer-feeder was first simulated. The resulting overvoltages were compared with overvoltages caused by energising the cable and transformer separately.
