Inhalt:
World standards to characterize power losses in magnetic materials and common approach to assess power dissipation in the core of magnetic components are discussed. Conditions of standard materials measurements are analyzed and their influence on possible interpretation errors is revealed regarding the efficiency of the switchmode power converters accurate pre-diction. The paper presents an overview of common engineering errors made on powder core losses prediction and proposes modifications to be done for more accurate approach. The data given by manufacturers are investigated and drawbacks are shown. A survey of existing modifications is also presented.
