Inhalt:
The increasing demand of renewable decentralised energy sources asks for optimal generator topologies. The presented concept for small power plants uses a squirrel cage induction machine. The excitation is produced by a converter parallel to the machine. This converter is also used to establish synchronous conditions for the connection of the machine to the grid and to adjust the power factor during operation. The concept combines the advantages of separately exited synchronous machines (SM) with the robustness of squirrel cage induction machines (IM). The concept has successfully been proofed in the lab on a 4 kW level.
