Practical Implementation of a Fault Injection Methodology using a simulation based approach in the framework of ISO 26262

In this paper we try to bridge the gap between the industry and academic world in regard to the understanding, the implementation and the practical usage of verification technique based on Fault Injection. We present a prototype framework for performing fault injection simulations with the aim to check the safety features introduced in a design. In this way the dependability of the design can be validated and an assessment of fulfilment of ISO 26262 functional safety standard can be carried out as well.
