The purpose of this manuscript is to explain the benefit of an accurate State-Of-Charge (SOC) calculation in various hybrid and electric vehicle applications, give an overview of existing technical solutions and present test results. The first part of the presentation will detail the main difficulties associated with achieving a good SOC estimation and give some details about typical errors. The second part of the presentation will provide practical test results.
