Inhalt:
The present work describes a performance comparison between two limited motion actuators used to drive an Exhaust Gas Recirculating (EGR) system of an internal combustion engine. Two topologies are studied such as a brushed DC machine with a spur gear set and a direct drive machine. Both actuators are designed for the same requirements and have been prototyped. Then, electromechanical behaviors are characterized to build two numerical models. The actuator models have been simulated in EGR system under all conditions of temperatures, loads and voltages. The study concludes on EGR actuating performances in order to choose the better actuator for this application.
