In this paper, the development of a single-phase inverter for an autonomous small photovoltaic system rated 120 VAC and 60Hz, is explained. Voltage variations caused by weather conditions of insolation of the photovoltaic panels, it cause the input voltage to the inverter not to be constant, and these variations affect the output voltage level. In order to avoid this event, a nonlinear control strategy for regulating the output voltage of the inverter was developed by means of the technique of pulse width modulation sPWM implemented on a microcontroller ATMEGA32 [1]. This technique allows to regulate output voltage so that is raises precisely from 12V AC to 120V AC by using a transformer, and a topology that requires the least possible amount of components is used.
