Inhalt:
A highly accurate low-cost current measurement system for lithium-ion battery management systems is presented. It provides current measurement for currents between -30 A and +30 A under operating conditions between -20 °C and +70 °C. Three error compensation methods have been investigated (no compensation: 0.98 % error; offset compensation: 0.78 % error; linear compensation: 0.16 % error). While the current sensor without compensation fulfills the requirements of norm DIN EN 62619, the more accurate, compensated sensor can be used to provide an accurate state of charge estimation, for battery storage systems using lithium iron-phosphate (LFP) cells with extremely flat voltage over state of charge (SoC) dependency.
