In order to meet the strict CO2 emissions regulations 48 V systems are an increasing trend among Automotive OEMs. Low voltage, high current MOSFETs are key components in such applications. In this paper, the performance of MOSFETs in TO-Lead Less (TOLL) package based on latest dense trench technology is discussed. Technology, package and switching performance, PCB layout and symmetry requirements are discussed based on simulations and measurements done on a reference design PCB. Potential 48V applications with 80-100 V power MOSFETs are discussed briefly.
