This paper presents a finite control set model predictive control (FCS-MPC) of a permanent magnet synchronous machine (PMSM) fed by a three-level neutral point clamped voltage source inverter (3L-NPC VSI), in which the torque and the flux producing current compo-nents id and iq in the rotating reference frame, the neutral point voltage, and the switching fre-quency are controlled by means of a cost func-tion, in which all these parameters are included. The control of the switching frequency is carried out through the number of transistor commuta-tions required to change from one space phas-or to the next. This paper shows simulation results as well as measurement results on a low voltage inverter to validate the approach.
