The application of power semiconductor modules requires accurate loss modelling, taking the in-tended dynamic load profiles into account to en-sure that the used semiconductors are operated within SOA. Simplified power loss calculation mod-els are commonly based on linear scaling of losses from datasheets, which reduces their accuracy. Typically, they do not allow dynamic load profile in-vestigations in most cases, but only provide results at steady-state conditions of losses and tempera-ture. This paper proposes a modelling approach consid-ering time discrete modelling of load profiles and obtaining electrical input data of chips from more accurately scaled algorithms.
