This paper presents the work performed by Microsemi within the GENOME* project proposed by CORAC** on More Electric Aircraft (MEA). The objective is to increase the maturity level (up to TRL5***) of the hybrid power module technologies including the latest generation of SiC MOSFETs to address the Electro-Mechanical Actuator (EMA) applications with the requested reliability, efficiency and integration levels to replace the hydraulic actuators in future aircraft. Microsemi has developed a new cost-effective hybrid power module platform (see Figure 1) that integrates the power stage (three-phase bridge up to 20 kW of output power), the driver stages and the telemetry circuits into a new package specifically dedicated to these high reliability applications. The results presented in this paper demonstrate the ability of the selected solutions to serve the flight controls in commercial aviation.
