In this paper, the controller synthesis and testing in a permanent magnet synchronous machine (PMSM) based 48V system is discussed. Firstly, a state– feedback controller is designed for controlling the PMSM currents. The nonlinear model is feedback– linearized using a state and disturbance observer. Secondly, the PMSM current references in the rotor reference frame are obtained offline using optimization techniques. Thirdly, a model reference adaptive controller for the dc–link voltage is proposed. The control algorithm has low–complexity and can be easily deployed on a microcontroller. A dynamic simulator implemented in SimscapeTM Power SystemsTM is used for testing. The obtained results show the effectiveness of proposed solution.
