Inhalt:
This paper introduces a newly developed thumb-index haptic interface for application in tele-robotics and virtual reality. Its lightweight structure and the presence of adaptable fixing elements make it suitable for different users. Thanks to the capability to generate force and tactile sensations at the user's fingertip the interface allows displaying virtual objects with different dimensions, stiffness, damping, inertias and surface textures. The mechanical design of the interface is introduced together with the electrical and control architectures. Preliminary experimental results show a good level of transparency and the capability to render virtual objects with different degrees of stiffness.
