Continuous monitoring of heart rate level for sports enthusiast is of great significance, which can make people know the heart situation all the time, and take appropriate protective measures for the sudden heart disease. However, the traditional heart rate detection devices based on ECG are unfeasible because of the large volume, and it is difficult to realize real-time monitoring of the users’ heart rate. Single-arm ECG as a novel heart rate detection method is attractive because of its convenience and comfort. For sensor-based sport monitoring application, we develop a low-power wearable exercise heart rate detection device based on single-arm ECG, and an optimized algorithm is implemented for the interference suppression. The experimental results can be continuously transmitted to intelligent terminal device through Bluetooth, and the data is stored for further analysis. According to practical test, the system prototype can accurately detect the heart rate level in different motion states with an improved accuracy.
