This paper addresses the design of a multi-phase DC/DC converter for the automotive high voltage grid based on GaN power semiconductors. Aspects of choice of passive components, inherent noise immunity, bandwidth of sensors and speed of microcontroller are considered bearing in mind the fast switching power transistors. A comparable Si-based converter serves as a reference to outline chances and challenges when introducing the new device technology.
