This paper presents a novel and practical control solution to keep Dickson Resonant converter operating always under zero current switching (ZCS) no matter under what kind of load condition, input voltage, temperature range, big tolerance of capacitor and inductance, the switching frequency can be instantly adapted to a new resonant frequency. This concept has been simulated and proved by an intensive 500W, 4:1 conversion ratio prototype with FPGA as its controller. Experimental results are also provided in the paper.
