Inhalt:
Modern IGBTs offer superior conduction and switching performance. However, their overall behavior differs from supplier to supplier and from previous generations. In this paper, a detailed comparison of the performance of modules equipped with latest generation IGBTs from two different manufacturers is presented. The results are also compared to the performance of state-of-the-art modules. Furthermore, two possible optimizations of the package with respect to these new IGBTs are discussed, namely changes in the module layout and work on a new variation of the CAL diode with the switching behavior optimized to the new IGBT generation.
