This paper presents preliminary results of the control scheme of a PV-system that is connected to the medium voltage level. In order to control and improve the performance of the grid-tied converter, a flexible Fuzzy control algorithm, based on the p-q theory has been used. The proposed algorithm is capable of providing ancillary services to the electric power system through the uninterrupted compensation of the reactive power of the load and the low voltage ride through requirements. As this is a preliminary study, only the beneficial impact of the PV in the grid voltage-profile is shown, while the ancillary services are only partially addressed. The proposed algorithm is simulated and evaluated with MATLAB /SIMULINK, both in steady state and transient response. Based on the proposed results, the positive impact on the voltage profile of electrical grid is verified.
