Antenna miniaturization design for wireless capsule endoscopy systems

Based on the finite element analysis method (FEM), this paper simulates the performance of antenna in the human digestive tract, and analyzes the influence of structural parameters on the radiation performance by the real human body model. According to the characteristics of wireless capsule endoscopy working in the human digestive tract，a microstrip antenna is designed for transmitting digestive tract data and satisfying miniaturization. The resonant frequency of designed antenna is 2.45GHz, and the relative bandwidth is set as 20.8% when the return loss is less than - 10dB within bandwidth, the voltage standing wave ratio (VSWR) is below 2.0. Moreover, the antenna is made of highfrequency dielectric materials．Results of experiment indicate that the antenna is adequate for actual applications of wireless capsule endoscope and satisfies specific absorption rate (SAR) requirement to improve the product safety.
