Inhalt:
An operation scheme to achieve zero voltage switching (ZVS) in multi-level flying capacitor dc/dc converter topologies is proposed. Soft switching of an otherwise in discontinuous conduction mode (DCM) operating converter is achieved by adding a clamp-switch network in parallel to the inductor and by generation of a proper drive signal. The operating method is described on basis of a three-level flying capacitor boost converter and can be extended to other topologies. Simulation results and experimental measurements are presented to verify the proposed operation principle.
