Inhalt:
To assist the reduction of CO2 emissions of vehicles with internal combustion engines (ICE), Super Low Loss Diode (SLLD) was developed. SLLD comprises a synchronous rectifying circuit instead of conventional Si Zener diode and may reduce working resistance by over 80 % when compared to conventional Zener diode rectifier. SLLD can contribute to a saving of 1.2 g CO2 /km per alternator, in other words, almost 1.0 % efficiency improvement towards the total efficiency targets of ICE Automotive sector emissions goals [1]. SLLD may rectify autonomously due to the integrated topology architecture comprising both power supplies and control IC. Using a high density assembly method and optimized circuit conditioning, the SLLD device external form factor is preserved, providing conventional Zener diode compatibility with higher electrical efficiency. SLLD can be adopted as a drop in replacement device to conventional Zener diodes in alternator manufacturing lines providing high efficiency performance as well as convenience.
