Dc power distribution systems have lately attracted more attention due to their unique characteristics. However, issues such as the protection devices are under constant development. The interruption and isolation of a short-circuit fault in dc systems is very challenging due to the high current rate of rising for fault currents. Therefore, due to its fast action, interrupting solid-state dc breaker (SSCB) topologies have been studied and proposed as an alternative to reduce the effects caused by SCs. However, each system presents its particular dynamic behavior and an appropriate study must be performed to design proper SSCB components. Some methods to design the SSCB use a simple representation of the dc line, which reduces essential information to design the SSCB components in some cases. This work makes a detailed analysis of the impact of the dc line modeling in the SSCB design for an MVDC system.
