In this paper, a compact and highly efficient DC/DC converter with 500W rated power to generate 24 V DC from a wide range DC voltage designed for the research project DC-INDUSTRIE is presented. One of the main tasks resulting from the specifications for industrial DC-grids is reaching a good efficiency for the complete input voltage range. It is shown how a good efficiency can be achieved using zero voltage switching on the primary and active synchronous rectification at the secondary side of the transformer. Subsequently, the practical setup will show how to exploit SiC Semiconductors to achieve a good overall efficiency.
