With the gradual decline or disappearance of China government subsidies, all vehicle manufacturers and tier1s attach great importance to low cost and high efficiency of main inverter in electric vehicles application. As a matter of fact, IGBT module is the key component in main inverters and its driver plays a very important role in determining inverter performance and efficiency. This paper mainly introduces how to use Mitsubishi driver IC M8160xJFP to achieve low cost and high efficiency IGBT driver in automotive main inverter design.
