Inhalt:
Efficiency and package volume are two dedicated points for further improvement of electric drive systems for automotive application. In this context, a new design approach of a highly integrated traction inverter using silicon carbide (SiC) transistors is presented. A novel mechatronic concept for power electronic integration into the bearing shield has been invented throughout a collaborative research project. Appropriate subcomponents for modular building blocks have been developed. A permanent magnet synchronous machine with an innovative dual three phase hairpin winding is designed and adapted for integration purposes. The integrated drive system itself as well as test results of prototypes are presented and discussed.
