Inhalt:
This paper investigates three power electronic topologies to master the special requirements of a battery cooling compressor in an 800V electric car. Special focus is put on the dimensioning of key elements like power semiconductors and passives. It appears that a three-level inverter with 650 V IGBTs can keep pace with a B6 800 V SiC inverter in all relevant design targets and even enables additional benefits. The third topology, a 400 V IGBT B6 inverter with pre-connected 800 V buck stage cannot keep up with them.
