This paper deals with the simulation and control of a New Integrated Battery System (NIBS) applied to a new generation of battery for electric vehicles (EV). The NIBS consists of several Cascaded Modules (CM) connected in series for each electrical phase. Each module is composed of one or several low-voltage battery cells and an H-bridge Converter (HBC). It is controlled to impose the desired output voltage and supply the traction machine. In addition, the NIBS allows balancing the States-of-Charge (SoC) of the different batteries of each module. A simulation tool is developed for the proposed topology, including different controls and SoC balancing managements, which are discussed based on the simulation results.
