Computer simulation has been widely used in transportation design for more than fifteen years, and becoming more and more popular. Line is one of the most important shaping elements in transportation design, classification method of visual line on car body is introduced in this paper to better understand the function and origin of line. Design cases of five mainstream cars from different brands are studied, and their roof line and the belt line are extracted from their digital models through computer simulation. All the line on car body has certain curvature, the line could be bended dramatically or slightly, however the rate of curvature changing is always smooth and continuous.
