DTMF, also known as dual tone multi frequency, is widely used in various areas such as telephone communication, human-computer interaction. DTMF system has good anti-interference ability, and its identification and detection are also more convenient. There is already a dedicated chip to implement the DTMF system. However, using DSP chips is more versatile. This paper analyzes the principle of the DTMF signal. On the basis of digital signal processing, a DTMF signal generation, transmission and detection system is designed. The ATMega16 chip is used as the DTMF signal generator, and the generated DTMF signal is transmitted to MATLAB through the serial port. Also, the FFT and Goertzel algorithms are used to obtain the frequency spectrum, thus to get the corresponding digital code, realize the identification and detection of DTMF signal. The experimental results show that the system performance is good and prove its flexibility in multiple usages.
