This paper takes the research object as the triple-gear rotor system in Compressed Air Energy Storage (CAES), a gear rotor test bench with the same size as the triple-gear rotor system in CAES is built, and the vibration characteristics of the system operation under high rotating speed and high load are studied experimentally. The triple-frequency band energy entropy based on EMD method is proposed as the characteristic parameter related to the vibration signal of the system. The result shows, compared with traditional methods, the triple-frequency band energy entropy is more effective in reflecting the response of the system under different affecting factors, which has significance to the fault diagnosis of the gear rotor system.
