This study systematically reviews the literature on different types of design and control methods of the lower limb exoskeleton. The users’ needs are reported, and the characteristics of the various designs available, including lightweight and low power consumption, are analyzed. The employed control methods reported in the relevant literature are reviewed, and their pons and cons are discussed. The potential knowledge gaps relevant to the research seen in reported studies are suggested as future works.
