A direct method of fatigue evaluation based on practical test data was studied, Hilbert-Huang Transformation (HHT) method was used to transform random vibration signal obtained from the running test of Electric-Multiple-Unit(EMU), and retained the key effective vibration acceleration signals to be used as a load source to drive fatigue calculation of simulation model of gearbox housing. Firstly, the running test data of 2000 seconds was intercepted, HHT transform the test data in the range of 0~1000Hz to obtain the effective vibration spectrum in time-frequency domain; Secondly, modal frequency response analysis has been done to verify that the topical frequency of vibration stress of gearbox housing; Thirdly, calculated the housing stress by inertia release load method to obtain base calculation model for housing fatigue calculation, and used the effective vibration signals extracted by HHT as the load input to drive the base calculation model, convert the number of fatigue cycles according to the mileage in 2000 seconds, and complete the fatigue calculation of housing. Finally, compared the housing's equivalent stress obtained by actual EMU running test with the damage value obtained by the direct evaluation method, and verified the effectiveness and accuracy of direct evaluation method based on the comparison results.
