A high frequency (1MHz) LLC DC/DC power converter using Gallium Nitride High Electron Mobility Tran-sistors (GaN HEMT) has been designed and prototyped. The objective was to reduce the footprint of the device as well as to optimize the efficiency of this converter devoted to large markets, such as power supplies for datacenters. In this study, we paid a specific attention to the downsizing of the magnetic passive components via the integration of the series inductor into the magnetic core without any detri-mental effect on volume and efficiency. This transformer has been modelled, then fabricated and finally integrated into the converter. The experimental results highlight the performance of this transformer in comparison with a commercial solution for which a discrete inductive component was implemented. For the two solutions the DC/DC converter efficiencies were similar (η>95%).
