Inhalt:
This paper presents a prototype of an axial flux permanent magnet synchronous machine (AFPM) for applications in urban mobility and logistics. The final machine design needs to fulfil requirements of lightweight construction, low design complexity and scalability due to its usage as an in-wheel drive (IWD) meeting different drive conditions. This is achieved by a gearless drive concept without water cooling, the specific geometry of axial flux machines (AFM) as well as detachable stator teeth. To reduce eddy current losses the AFPM is assembled using soft magnetic powder composites (SMC).
