Millimeter wave radar has a wide development prospect in automotive safety, security inspection imaging, etc. Due to the rapid development of semiconductor technology, millimeter wave radar based on silicon chip has become a research hotspot. The Tianjin University research team has designed a 140GHz wideband millimeter wave transceiver chip. This paper introduces a novel high resolution millimeter wave 3D imaging radar based on the chip. The key features of radar hardware are illustrated. The radar performance is predicted based on the current stage of development. The presented solution is simple and low cost, and can be used as the basis of millimeter wave array radar.
