This study aims to explore some research activities in gene editing field by bibliometric analysis. Gene editing is a new and more accurate genetic engineering technology or process that can modify the specific target genes of organism genome. It has been applied in basic theoretical research and production applications, which contributes to many fields of life science, from the study of plant and animal gene function to human gene therapy. Through bibliometric analysis, we can learn about the annual published papers, influential authors, cooperation of research institutions and the evolution of topics in this field. We selected Science Citation Index Expanded (SCI-Expanded) from the core collection of Web of Science (WoS) database and retrieved 19449 articles from 1900 to 2020. The analysis results indicate gene editing as a scientific research field is growing steadily. Many institutions pay more attention to the development of gene editing technology. ZHANG F is the most influence author. In recent years, the research topics are CRISPR / CAS, gene editing, apoptosis and gene therapy.
