The new CIPOS(TM) Micro intelligent power module with reverse conducting IGBT technology for home appliances

This paper introduces a new family of intelligent power modules (IPMs) available in two different packages. These IPMs integrate the secondgeneration reverse-conducting drive IGBT (RC-D IGBT) technology with the junctionisolated gate driver for use in high efficiency motor drives such as fans and pumps. This new RC-D IGBT technology offers higher current density and lesser power losses, making it the optimal technology for compact power modules. The new advanced IPMs are available in both fast and slow speed variants, that incorporate protection features such as precise overcurrent protection and a temperature sensor. The fast and slow speeds enable low power loss and low electromagnetic interference (EMI) operation respectively depending on the end application’s requirement.
