Studying and analysing natural rainfall information and rain components is an important way to explore meteorological and geological changes. In order to obtain local rainfall information and collect rainfall samples, this paper designed a rainfall monitoring and automatic sampling system suitable for karst and other special geomorphological features. The sampling function uses the method of combining the infrared sensor and a designed positioning plate. Using the lowspeed motor drives the water diverter to be accurately positioned above the corresponding sample bottle. The monitoring function adopts a rain gauge, which uses the electromagnetic characteristics of the magnetic switch to collect rainfall signals. The rainfall information and bottle changing information are recorded in the FLASH memory by use of the lowpower STM32 controller. After field testing, all functions are operating normally and meet the requirements of relating research.
