A nonlinear flux linkage observer applied to a sensorless control method of a permanent magnet synchronous linear motor is proposed to observe the position and velocity of PMLSM. The principle of the conventional flux linkage observer is introduced, and the corresponding shortcomings are listed, while the proposed method has the advantages of more accurate position estimation and relatively easy implementation with less complicated calculation, while the proven phaselocked loop (PLL) calculation method is introduced for the speed calculation, and the feasibility of the method is verified for PMLSM under no load in a certain speed domain.
