With the increasing use of electric vehicles, people also put forward higher requirements for the performance of electric vehicles, especially the endurance of electric vehicles. If electric vehicles want to have higher endurance, they need greater battery energy density. Therefore, it is necessary to improve the battery energy density. This paper mainly introduces the lithium-ion battery and why the application of lithium-ion batteries in electric vehicles is better than other batteries, summarizes how to improve lithium-ion batteries from three aspects: anode, cathode electrolyte. It includes the advantages and disadvantages of the carbon-based negative electrode, silicon-based negative electrode, tin-based negative electrode, nickel-rich layered structure cathode, polyhedron cathode, and high-voltage spine structure cathode, as well as the leading improvement methods and the application of fluorine and lithium alternative solvents in electrolytes.
