In the course of the energy transition, the number of conventional power plants with rotating masses will decrease continuously. In contrast, the number of converters, which have faster dynamic behavior and diverse control options compared to synchronous generators (SGs), will increase. The usual method of balancing the energy imbalance by load frequency control can not be further used. For this reason, a new method to operate the converter-dominated grids is needed. In this paper, the operation of the modified 39 Bus New England System with phasor-based control is investigated. A RMS simulation to demonstrate the grid behaviour is performed with the software DIgSILENT PowerFactory.
