At present, rutting has become one of the main diseases of asphalt pavement. Therefore, improving the anti-rutting performance of asphalt pavement has become an urgent problem to be solved in highway construction. In order to overcome the problems of insufficient equipment conditions, large experimental amount and long experimental period in the rutting experiment of different graded asphalt mixtures in traditional indoor experiments. In this paper, on the basis of the indoor rutting experiment, the PFC(exp 2D) software is used to establish the specimen models of three typical graded asphalt mixtures of suspension-dense type, skeleton-dense type, and skeleton-void type. Through the virtual rutting experiment, the trajectory change law, displacement field and contact force field of three asphalt mixtures in the process of rutting formation were compared and analyzed, hoping to serve as a reference for asphalt pavement design. The results show that the SMA-20 asphalt mixture, the skeleton-dense grading, has better compression resistance, shear resistance and stress transfer ability.
