The development of modern technology and the Internet has led to an increase in the use of file and image transmission, as well as privacy concerns. It is not only critical that images containing sensitive information be transmitted in a secure manner, but that the images themselves be encrypted as well. Chaotic mapping is a highly effective way of encrypting images as it can generate data without any obvious pattern. In this study, a method for securely encoding images based on tent mapping was developed, and it was applied to all RGB channels. Three corresponding matrices were generated by tent mapping, which were then XORed with the RGB channels. It was found that the final encrypted image had virtually no patterns similar to the original, with only a few abrupt contours. According to the study, even if the initial key is modified by the millionth place, it cannot be decrypted successfully. It is proved that the method has a high key sensitivity, which makes it nearly impossible to decrypt the image by using a different secret key.
