By combing the research on body rotation technology in swimming in recent 30 years, this paper summarizes the research progress of body rotation technology around vertical axis. Results: The characteristics of the movement of the body rotating around the vertical axis are as follows: the amplitude of body rotation decreases with the increase of swimming speed, and at the same time, the buoyancy torque is reduced, and the rotation opportunity is advanced. On the contrary, the rotation speed (ω/s) is increased, and the sine wave rhythm is followed consistently. To sum up, the research on the fine monitoring of swimming movements is a hot topic at present, which also shows that the requirements of swimming techniques are becoming more and more delicate. At present, the technique of body rotation in swimming has attracted much attention, but the experimental results are different under different methods, and there is a lack of complete technical analysis of movement linkage. Measuring the peak value、angular velocity, torque, rhythm, timing and transmission rate of body rotation at different stages in the digital complete cycle is the future research trend.
