Along with the increasingly fierce social competition and the ever-accelerating pace of life, the mental health problems of college students have been taken seriously, which has a bearing on the healthy growth of college students and the stable development of society. This paper aimed to analyze the hot spots and frontiers of research in the mental health field of college students in China, and provide a basis for further inquiry. The literature related to the field of college student mental health was searched and screened in the CSSCI database and visualized by bibliometric and COOC. The results show that the number of articles published in this field is characterized by an overall downward trend and a convergence of disciplines, especially in the area of university student psychological depression, which is a hot spot for research. Most of the institutions with a high output of literature are engaged in mental health research; the key words representing the hotspots are "university students", "mental health status", "mental health education", etc. Three categories are keyword clustering, which are descriptive research on the mental health status of college students, practical research on mental health education in colleges and universities, and research on factors affecting the mental health of special college student groups. It is concluded that China continues to pay attention to the mental health of college students, and will broaden the research field, focus on innovative thinking, and promote the reform of mental health education in the future.
